17.5

二來意者，亦三：初分來者，上明修因契果生解分，則於法起解；今明託法進修行德分，則依解起行。義次第故，是故須來。二會來者，前第六會明修因契果生解周圓，次顯正行處世無染，故次來也。三品來者，前〈性起品〉明顯性果殊勝，今明依彼所起行用，故次來也。

Second, the purpose of coming also has three parts: First, the coming of the division: the preceding clarified the 'Division of Cultivating Causes to Accord with the Fruit and Generating Understanding', which gave rise to understanding of the Dharma; now is clarified the 'Division of Relying on the Dharma to Advance in Cultivation and Virtuous Practice', which initiates practice based on understanding. Because of the sequence of meanings, it must follow. Second, the coming of the assembly: the preceding sixth assembly clarified cultivating causes to accord with the fruit and bringing the generation of understanding to full completion; next is revealed the correct practice of abiding in the world without defilement; hence it follows next. Third, the coming of the chapter: the preceding 'Chapter on Nature Manifestation' clearly revealed the supremacy of the fruit of the nature; now is clarified the practice and function initiated relying upon that; hence it follows next.
