Regarding the good friend of the third Luminous Bhūmi: first, within presenting the Dharma to encourage cultivation there are two parts: first, indicating the subsequent stage; afterward, versifying the preceding text. In the first part there are three: first, showing the place: "not far" is because the second and third [bhūmis] are adjacent. "To the right of the Tathāgata" is because realizing the principle is identical to the fruit, and it is expedient for gathering beings, hence she is on the right. "Pramuditanayanā-jagadvirocanā" (Joyful Eyes Observing Sentient Beings) internally realizes the profound principle and externally displays eyes of compassion to look upon sentient beings, hence this title was established. The Indian original name is "Joyful Eyes Emitting Light Illuminating and Touching Sentient Beings." Second, in versifying the preceding Dharma there are thirteen gāthās: first, directly versifying the preceding Dharma; the last gāthā indicates the subsequent stage. In the former, the first two gāthās versify the preceding seeing of the Buddhas of the three times relying on samādhi; the next ten gāthās clarify seeing Rocana Buddha. In this, the first three gāthās clarify that the virtues of the essence are fully complete; the latter seven gāthās are on the Buddha's mastery of wondrous functions, within which the first three are mastery of bodily karma, the next two are mastery of vocal karma, and the last two are mastery of mental karma.
