第三見敬申請中，初推求告示。善城，亦是輸那名也，天竺本名城善，而言城外者，表戒行外防故也。河水側者，表發定水故也。河水，即是彼江水也。二見其所作弄沙戲者，明三聚戒數方便集起也。三設敬、四申請，可知。

Third, seeing, revering, and requesting: first, searching and announcing. “Good City” is also a name for Śūna; the Indic text is named “City of the Good,” and saying “outside the city” signifies the outer defense of precept practice. “Beside the river waters” signifies generating the water of samādhi. The river waters are precisely that river's waters. Second, seeing his activity of playing with sand explains the expedient assembly and arising of the numbers of the three clusters of precepts. Third, paying respect, and fourth, requesting, may be understood.
