Fourth, from "At that time Mahādeva" onward reveals his own dharmadhātu, within which there are two parts: first, the upāya of bestowing the Dharma; second, the actual bestowal of his own Dharma. Within the first there are also two: first, bodily action; second, vocal action. In the bodily [action], "with four long arms" refers to the skillful function of the four unobstructed knowledges. "Taking water from the four seas" corresponds to the meaning of the superior outflow of the dharmadhātu. "Washing his face" means purifying his own face that responds to capacities. Since antiquity everyone has said that he washed Sudhana's face. Now, checking the Sanskrit text, with his four long arms he took a sea's water from each of the four directions and washed his own face; thus with water he purified himself, and facing [Sudhana], scattered flowers upon Sudhana and approached his place. Second, from "spoke these words" onward is the vocal action praising [Sudhana's] capacity, the first phrase being general. "Extraordinary dharmas" means they do not exist in the mundane world. Second, he specifically praises him as a refuge, gathering [beings] by the correct path. Third, he specifically praises him as a teacher, protecting [them] with the correct Dharma. Fourth, he specifically praises him as a general, leading [them] to the city of wisdom. Fifth, from "complete" onward concludes by [praising his] freedom from faults and responsiveness to capacities. Second, from "I have accomplished" onward, within the actual demonstration of his own Dharma, there are three parts: first, designating the name and essence; second, revealing the karmic function; third, concluding with his own stage. Within the first, "cloud net" refers to the practice of the six pāramitās having the meaning of moistening benefit and pervasive covering, which is compared to a cloud; and having the meaning of dipping and drawing out and of luminous inter-reflection, which is compared to a net—thus taking the practice of the six pāramitās as its essence. Second, from "said" onward clarifies the karmic function, first asking and then answering. Within the answer there are three: first, teaching the practice of giving, within which are first, accumulating goods; second, teaching giving; third, extending by analogy to other sentient beings; second, from "furthermore" onward, teaching the practice of morality, and so forth; third, from "such as these" onward, generally concludes the completion of practice. Third, from "I only" onward concludes his own portion.
