Regarding the spiritual friend of the tenth bhūmi, the Cloud of Dharma: within this, first adducing the Dharma to encourage cultivation, the name of the city is as explained before. Gopā (Guyi) was translated by ancient translators as "Luminous Woman". Furthermore, examining various Sanskrit texts, it is sometimes named Kyōbi (Gopī?), translated here as "concealed", meaning protected by parents at home so that others are not allowed to see her, etc. Or she is named Gopā, translated here as "guardian of the great earth". When the Buddha was the crown prince, he had three consorts: Gopā was the first, Yaśodharā the second, and Manodharā the third. Furthermore, Gopā is the precious woman of the king, here symbolizing that the signs of ultimate loving-kindness and compassion at the causal stage are prominently manifest, hence the first is taken. Moreover, because the realization of the Dharma is already complete, the joy and delight in the Dharma is the meaning of "wife".
