5.62

六意業中約遍行五徵之，以是根本動作故。想是想數、施設是思、寒熱飢渴是觸、苦等是受，略無作意也。上來但染淨相反顯非梵，不待細破；後四順梵故，別破細折方顯真理，故不同也。

Sixth, in mental karma, it interrogates it with reference to the five omnipresent mental factors, because they are the fundamental operations: perception is the factor of perception (saṃjñā); designation is volition (cetanā); cold, heat, hunger, and thirst are contact (sparśa); suffering and so forth are sensation (vedanā)—attention (manaskāra) is omitted in brief. Above, it merely relied on the mutual opposition between defilement and purity to show that they are not the pure life, without waiting for detailed refutation; but because the latter four accord with the pure life, only by specially refuting and finely deconstructing them can the true principle be revealed; hence they are not the same.
