As for explaining the text, the ten gāthās in the verse are divided into four parts: First, three [verses] clarify the purity and vastness of the Buddha's dharmacakra. Within this, the first line marks the teacher. The next line clarifies the purity of the dharmacakra; "purity" means eliminating the defilements of affliction, manifesting the pure principle, and the purity of the teaching wheel, like the Brahmā-wheel. Below, the clarification of the vastness of the dharmacakra naturally has six gates: (1) the first single line [shows] the vastness of skillful preaching; (2) the single line [shows] the vastness of the preaching persons; (3) the two lines [show] the vastness of the locations—mentioning both the ocean of lands and the ocean of world realms because these two mutually complete each other; (4) the two lines [shows] the vastness of the causes, meaning that preaching throughout all future bounds by the power of great vows is also called the vastness of preaching times; (5) the two lines [shows] the vastness of the faculties; (6) the two lines [shows] the vastness of the spoken voices. Second, there are two verses praising Samantabhadra's ability to preach the Dharma universally: (1) because of the empowerment by the Buddha's power, his verbal karma is made universal; (2) his physical karma conforms to the principle and likewise rains down the Dharma everywhere. Third, there are three verses praising Rocana Buddha's preaching of the Dharma: (1) verbal karma; (2) mental karma, emitting light; (3) physical karma. Fourth, the final two verses praise the Buddhas of the three times as also preaching the Dharma in the same way: (1) causing them to see the preaching of the Dharma; (2) causing them to hear the preaching of the Dharma. Below, the concluding connection has two meanings: (1) it concludes the assembly gathered above, reaching into the worlds of the ten directions; (2) since the conclusion comes after the demonstration of the Dharma, one knows that the demonstration of the Dharma also reaches into the ten directions. The division on the Teacher of the Dharma is finished.
