Second, the Avataṃsaka samādhi: therein are two and a half verses, divided into two. First, distinguishing the karmic functions, wherein are seven practices: 1. the practice of adorning lands; 2. the practice of making offerings to Buddhas; 3. the practice of radiance; 4. the practice of teaching and transforming; 5. the practice of wisdom; 6. the practice of expounding the Dharma; 7. the practice of the ten pāramitās. The latter two lines conclude with the samādhi upon which the practices rely: because the gates of practice are unobstructed, it is called all masteries. Since Avataṃsaka is the practice dharma, it is concluded as belonging to it, as in the seventh assembly entering the Avataṃsaka samādhi to expound the two thousand practice dharmas and so forth.
