7.8

In the first chapter there are seven: (1) the original assembly manifesting completely; (2) ascending here without moving; (3) the heavenly king adorning the place; (4) welcoming the Buddha and presenting offerings; (5) beholding the Buddha's superior virtues; (6) the heavenly king reverently requesting; (7) accepting the request and accomplishing benefit. The first means that the previous assemblies where the Dharma was expounded—in the ten directions, under the tree of awakening, in Universal Light, Trāyastriṃśa, Yāma, and so forth—have not dispersed at all; ascending here to expound is simultaneous with those. Therefore, horizontally pervading the ten directions and vertically running through the eight assemblies, the Dharma is expounded simultaneously, before and after, without obstruction. The remaining points are as expounded previously.
