12.8

初來意者，前明此因之果，今辯前果之因，答前因問，故次來也。因是果因，故標果稱。又不以人取法，知是誰因？前品初言毘盧遮那曠劫修因之所嚴淨，今方顯其事。

First, as for the contextual intent: previously the fruit of this cause was explained; now the cause of that previous fruit is analyzed, answering the previous inquiry about the causes, which is why it follows next. Since the cause is the cause of the fruit, the title indicates the fruit's name. Moreover, if one does not identify the teaching through the person, how would one know whose cause it is? At the beginning of the previous chapter it was said that Vairocana purified it through practicing causes over vast kalpas; only now are those events revealed.
