13.11

釋此一品，五門分別。初來意者，此品廣前種種語業，即答前佛說法問，亦遠答前會佛演說海之一問故。既知佛可歸，次知法可仰。上名隨物立，今法逐機差，故次來也。

Explaining this chapter involves distinguishing five gateways. First, the purpose of coming: this chapter expands upon the previous manifold actions of speech, directly answering the previous question on the Buddha's preaching of Dharma, and also distantly answering the question in the previous assembly about the ocean of the Buddha's proclamation. Having known that the Buddha is worthy of refuge, one next knows that the Dharma is worthy of veneration. The names above were established in accordance with beings; now the Dharma varies according to capacities, hence this comes next.
