17.17

初來意者，既明化主赴感，今辨助化讚揚。將演住門，先陳體性。性即佛智，先讚如來，故品來也。

First, as for the purpose of its arrival: having already clarified that the lord of transformation responds to spiritual capacity, here it distinguishes the assisting transformations and praises. About to expound the gates of the abodes, it first sets forth their essential nature. This nature is precisely the Buddha's wisdom; hence, one first praises the Tathāgata, and so this chapter arrives.
