20.3

初來意者，前明當位所成之德，今辨趣後勝進之行，故次來也。又前明發心之勝德，今辨所具之行相，故次來也。

First, as for the contextual sequence of its arising: previously, the virtues accomplished in the present station were explained; now, the practices for progressing and advancing toward what follows are elucidated; hence it follows next. Moreover, previously, the superior virtues of generating the [bodhi]mind were explained; now, the characteristics of the practices possessed are elucidated; hence it follows next.
