Next, directly explaining the text, which also has three parts: within the section of praise and request, there are nine and a half verses, divided into two: first, eight and a half verses of offerings and praise; and last, one verse of requesting the teaching. In the former, there are three parts: first, one [verse] of bodhisattvas offering and praising; next, one of the host of deva kings; the rest are all devīs. Within this, there are three points: first, one verse sets forth [the theme]; next, four and a half verses praise [the Buddha]. Therein, the first two verses extol sympathetic resonance. They both speak of 'long', because the Buddha's response depends on the capacity [of beings], and the capacity is rarely present. 'The great ocean moves' means moving the ocean of the Buddha's wisdom to dry up the ocean of suffering. The latter two and a half verses praise the possession of virtues: the first verse [praises] the possession of wisdom and abandonment; the next half [praises] the possession of grace. The last verse possesses all three virtues; therefore [the Buddha] is worthy of offerings. Third, one verse concludes the praise and makes the request, all of which can be known [from the text].
