Second, the common marks divide Dharma and meaning in terms of nature and marks. 1. The common mark of all dharmas, meaning that all dharmas equally take the absence of nature as their own-nature. 2. The common mark of conditioned dharmas, because they equally arise and cease; that is, contemplating the gate of impermanence through the marks of arising and ceasing allows entry into the first phrase, and because dharmas have the nature of selflessness, the realm of the wisdom of selflessness is accomplished; thus, arising and ceasing is the meaning of the constant. 3. The common mark of nominal designations of all dharmas, hence it is said to be established. The established dharmas are already nominal designations, and further discussing them through the nominal designations of verbal expressions is called uninterrupted preaching. 4. The common mark of nominal designations of nominal designations, meaning that without destroying the previous nominal designations, one can further preach with diverse, boundless nominal designations; hence nominal designations are mentioned twice.
