The second part, the metaphor, has two sections: first, it explains that the great sūtra is hidden within an atom to illustrate what was said above about Buddha-wisdom being entangled by delusion. As for 'a scroll of a great sūtra', Buddha-wisdom is boundless, and the virtues of its nature are consummately complete. 'Each written according with its object' is because wisdom corresponds to noumenon. Being hidden within a single atom has, in brief, three senses: first, because the deluded veils the true; second, because the small contains the great; and third, because the one possesses the many. As for 'all atoms', it is because there is not a single sentient being who does not possess Buddha-wisdom. Later, from 'At that time, there was a person' onward, it brings forth the sūtra to benefit beings, illustrating what was said above about leaving behind delusion so that it manifests before them.
