51.13

大文第三「入此三昧時」下明發起分。先明地動，警群機故；後顯出聲，令聞法故。前皆有加而無發起，此有發起而無加分者，前表解可從他，故有他加；此表行由己立，故自力發起。又表行依解起，無別法故不加。攝解成行，亦須入定。聖旨多端，不可一準。

The third major section of text, from "When entering this samādhi" onward, clarifies the section on initiation. First, it clarifies the shaking of the earth, in order to alert the various faculties; second, it shows the emission of sound, in order to make them hear the Dharma. The previous [sections] all had empowerment but no initiation; this has initiation but no section on empowerment because the previous showed that understanding can follow from another, hence having empowerment from another; this shows that practice is established by oneself, hence initiated by one's own power. Moreover, it shows that practice arises relying on understanding; since there is no separate dharma, there is no empowerment. To gather understanding to accomplish practice, one must also enter concentration. The holy intentions are manifold and cannot be standardized to one rule.
