56.11

第二「向海雲」下見敬諮問。於中三：初設敬；次自陳發心，可知；後「而未知」下諮問法要。於中言願輪者，願窮三際無有終始，故對生死以立輪名。餘文自顯。

Second, from 'approaching Sāgaramegha' onward, seeing him with reverence, he inquires. Herein are three: first, paying reverence; next, declaring his own resolving of the mind, which is understandable; finally, from 'and yet does not know' onward, inquiring about the essentials of the Dharma. Therein, speaking of the 'wheel of vows', it is because vows exhaust the three periods of time without beginning or end, and thus the name 'wheel' is established in contrast to saṃsāra. The rest of the text is self-evident.
