Second is the tutor of boys, Bhikṣamitra (Universal Friend), the model of illusory wisdom. A spiritual friend means being a teacher to the young and ignorant, and universally acting as a good friend to sentient beings. His dwelling in Kapilavastu, the yellow city, is because the middle way sets a rule for things. His not obtaining the Dharma has four brief meanings: 1. because it is identical with the Dharma-gate of Śilpābhijña (All Arts); 2. because there is a transmission of the Dharma, revealing its circulation; 3. signifying that the essence of all Dharma-gates is non-dual; 4. signifying that non-attainment is truly attainment.
