Second, the ten verses of the hymn follow the sequence of the preceding [prose]. Now in the first [verse], the first three lines elucidate the joy of tranquility, generally adducing the joy of the cause to reveal the joy of the fruit; the final line is the function of descending and manifesting. In the second [verse], the first line is the ocean that is corresponded with; the next line is the great compassion that can respond, and because great compassion shoulders beings, it is called 'earth'; the next line is the storehouse generating joy: when sorrow is removed there is joy, and when afflictions are eliminated there is delight. In the third [verse], the first line is what can manifest, and the next two lines are what is manifested. In the fourth [verse], the first two lines mean universally causing formation, abiding, and so forth; the next line is a verse on purity like space, because although the three calamities permeate everywhere, the pure land is not destroyed. However, the third and fourth verses seem as if transposed from before; I merely explain them following the text. In the fifth [verse], in the first two lines, all respectfully revering refers to joyful fondness, and the rest are the noble beings; the next line is the aforesaid Dharma and its faithful acceptance. In the sixth [verse], the first line is abiding through kalpas; the next two lines are the meaning of 'ground' (stage), and boundless skillful means is 'all'. In the seventh [verse], it generally versifies the eight aspects pervading everywhere, concisely omitting offerings. In the eighth [verse], the first line is the aforementioned wisdom; the next line is supernormal power; the next line is inexhaustibility and the ocean, because purifying according to beings' faculties is deep and vast. In the ninth [verse], the first two lines are the fullness of the ocean of virtues, and the next line is appearing in the world. In the tenth [verse], three lines generally elucidate the power of past vows from long ago; the fourth line, in concluding, reveals the treasury of deep faith and joyful fondness, for the text speaks of 'great rejoicing'.
