Among the four gates, first, there are six purposes for its coming: 1. the preceding was the actual stations, while this explains the practice within the stations, hence it comes next; 2. the preceding explained the distinct practices of the various stations, while this explains the common practice of the various stations; 3. the preceding pertained to both monastics and laity, while this specifically manifests the practice of those who have left home; 4. the preceding explained the distinctions according with phenomenal marks, while this manifests integrating conditions to enter the real; 5. it is to manifest the cause for entering the abodes, meaning that because both the self and other kinds of pure conduct are pure, one enters the initial abode; 6. specifically manifesting that the initial abode realizes Buddhahood then parallels the preceding stations, in which every station realizes Buddhahood without relying on realization through another. Endowed with the above purposes, this chapter comes next.
