(Fascicle Nineteen) From here below is the third assembly, that of the intermediate worthies of the ten practices. First, as for the intention of its occurrence: it is because it responds to the prior inquiry regarding the ten practices. It is not knowing that is difficult, but practicing that is difficult. Previously understanding this practice was like oil and light relying upon one another, or eyes and feet assisting each other; therefore, it follows next. Next, as for the occurrence of the chapters: the four chapters of this assembly are divided into three parts: the first two chapters are the introductory occasions of the assembly; the next chapter is the main body of this assembly; the last chapter is the advancing progress toward what follows. Within the introductory occasions, the latter chapter clarifies praising virtues and manifesting the essence, while this chapter first clarifies the sympathetic resonance and reciprocal communion between the spiritual capacity and the response. The previous assembly having already ended, the subsequent exposition is about to be presented; therefore, it follows next.
