Fourth, giving vehicles and carriages: divided into three parts: First, regarding the practice of giving, the meaning applies generally to horses and so forth, because the sixteenth separately treats giving carts. The ten vows of pariṇāmanā all pertain to substituting for travel on foot. The first alone is solely the fruition, while the rest encompass the cause. However, the essential nature of the vehicle applies generally to noumenon and wisdom, with names established according to their meaning: 1. its essential nature subsumes all; 2. it cannot be abolished or established; 3. it transcends the inferior; 4. it is without fault; 5. it does not pass through three asaṃkhyeya kalpas; 6. the ten powers universally convey; 7. it encompasses the five pāramitās and myriad practices; 8. it corresponds with the undefiled; 9. those who give rise to the mind to set out upon it are named bodhisattvas.
