Fifty-one: Universally giving one's body to all sentient beings. In the practice of giving, both phenomenal giving and Dharma-giving are also complete: first, presenting in general; next, from "bodhisattva" onward, explaining distinctively. If explained in terms of phenomena, one's body becomes the radiance of the sun and moon, or rivers, ponds, wells, and springs to give to beings, because one has attained mastery over the bodies of the three kinds of worlds. If explained in terms of Dharma-giving, it is the lamp of Dharma shining, the sun of Dharma benefiting, and so forth. In the text, it refers either to Dharma or to phenomena, but in truth its meaning encompasses both. In the second [part], the practice of pariṇāmanā, the practice of giving above was using one's body to approach sentient beings, etc.; inversely, one vows that sentient beings will use their bodies to draw near to the Buddha, etc., which may be contemplated according to the meaning.
