Seventh, explaining the ten meanings of 'Sūtra'. The five meanings from the Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya have already appeared above. The Buddhabhūmi-śāstra has two meanings: 1. Threading together what has been spoken; 2. Gathering and upholding those who are transformed. This corresponds to the single meaning of 'stringing garlands' in the Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya; combining them, one should remove 'stringing garlands' and expand them into six meanings. According to the glosses of this land (China), there are four further meanings: 1. Constant; 2. Model/norm—both as distinguished previously; 3. The meaning of path, namely the path for sentient beings; 4. The meaning of canon/classic, causing them to see and hear the correct Dharma. In the Ratnamegha-sūtra there are also ten meanings, which are omitted here for fear of verbosity.
