Ninth, subsuming back into the one mind: the aforementioned gates up to the inexhaustible do not depart from the one mind, because the one mind is the dharmadhātu. The Awakening of Faith says: "That which is called Dharma is the mind of sentient beings." The essence of the mind is "Great"; the fundamental wisdom of the mind is "Correct and Vast"; contemplating the mind and giving rise to practice is "Avataṃsaka"; awakening to the mind's nature and marks is "Buddha." Awakening does not come from outside; it is entirely identical to that which is awakened to, hence noumenon and wisdom are not distinct. Noumenon and wisdom mutually eclipse each other; stillness and illumination are both forgotten, so that thought after thought is the ocean of the nature of the Avataṃsaka.
