Second, from "The bodhisattva abiding in this..." onward is the result of holding retribution. The texts on holding retribution across the various stages below are all divided into two: first, the superior body; second, from "able with..." onward, the superior fruit. Within the fruit: first, the practice of one's own level; second, from "further produces this thought..." onward, the practice of superior progression; third, the verses. The eighteen verses are divided into five parts: first, one verse on the part of the practice of arousing revulsion; second, twelve verses that praise the part of the practice of revulsion, wherein the first two protect against the practice of afflictions, the next three protect against the practice of the Lesser Vehicle, and the last seven concern the practice embraced by skillful means; third, one verse on the division of revulsion and its results; fourth, three verses on the results of the station; fifth, one verse concluding the explanation of the third stage. (From here on enters the thirty-sixth fascicle of the sūtra).
