Ninth, the mark of the Tathāgata stage distinguishes teaching and meaning in terms of the true and the responsive. First, the mark of the dharmakāya is the dharmakāya in which origin and beginning are non-dual; hence it says 'in a single thought-moment realizing sambodhi'. Second, the mark of the form body: 'various times' refers to whichever kalpa; 'various places' refers to the facts of circumstantial retribution in whichever buddha-field; 'each distinct' refers to the facts of direct retribution in whatever buddha-body. Third, the mark of sambodhi generally expounds the distinctions of the ten buddhas of sambodhi. Fourth, the mark of exposition: because the virtues of the Buddha are inexhaustible, the exposition is also inexhaustible.
