Second, in explaining the title: a- means "non-" (wu) and saṃkhyeya means "count" (shu); it fully bears the name of a number. In the Jin translation it is called "Chapter on Bodhisattva Mind King's Inquiries on the Incalculable," also incorporating the inquirer, which cites both person and Dharma, as well as the calculation inquired about by the bodhisattva; the Sanskrit text is the same as this. However, asaṃkhyeya is the head of the ten great numbers and is widely used in sūtras and treatises; hence it is used to designate the title. Furthermore, to reveal that this number is precisely detached from numbers, the title is designated by resorting to "incalculable" (numberless).
