Sixth is the simile of empty space containing and receiving, which illustrates the Buddha's wisdom of unobstructed support and maintenance, also explaining the prior meaning of 'support'. Above it merely said 'support', which still allowed the sense of externally relying on another's power; here it clarifies that the essence is all-pervading and universally receptive, which means the wisdom of the five vehicles and so forth are all things within the Tathāgata's great wisdom. Master Sengzhao also said: 'The sage, with an empty mind and profound illumination, leaves no principle unintegrated. He embraces the six realms in his chest, yet his spiritual mirror has surplus clarity; he reflects the myriad beings within his square-inch mind, yet his spirit remains ever empty.' This is precisely that meaning.
