Third, from "Therefore, our World-Honoured One" onward, the speaker of the teaching is inconceivable. The text has six clauses, whose meaning divides into four: first, two clauses indicate the perfection of the fruit; second, one clause speaks of the depth of the cause; third, one clause clarifies the profundity of the essence; fourth, two clauses manifest the completeness of the virtues. First, stating: "Therefore, our World-Honoured One, with the ten bodies initially perfected," generally indicates the ten bodies, encompasses the two passages below, and directly clarifies their inconceivability. This is because these are the unimpeded ten bodies, spoken of by the Buddha, not the three bodies. Saying "Therefore, our" means that because the expounding [teaching] and expounded [principle] above are deep, vast, mysterious, and subtle, serving as the root of all teachings, therefore our World-Honoured One, upon first realizing correct awakening,頓-expounded this sūtra. Regarding "the ten bodies," they will be enumerated immediately below. Regarding "initially perfected," it is because when he realized correct awakening, his bodies were only then perfected. Thus the sūtra states: "At that time, the World-Honoured One sat upon this seat, attained the supreme correct awakening regarding all dharmas, his wisdom entering the three times in complete impartiality, his body filling all worlds, and his voice universally according with the lands of the ten directions," and so forth; this is the "initial perfection." "Correct awakening was first accomplished" speaks distinctively of the bodhi body, since it is general. Initial enlightenment is identical to original enlightenment, with no further distinction between initial and original; hence it is called "first accomplished," which will be broadly explained below.
