Regarding the commentary's "Second, the speaker and the listener completely subsuming each other" and so forth: within the text there are three parts: first, the statement; next, the explanation; and finally, the concluding fusion. Now, in the initial statement, the reason two sets of four propositions are formed is that when the true mind fuses the two, it resembles the non-obstruction of phenomena and principle; hence it is divided again. In the first, the shared teaching, the first two propositions merely take sentient beings and the Buddha as sharing the same true mind, and therefore they mutually subsume each other. The third proposition is that they do not mutually obstruct each other, and thus both are maintained. The fourth is that because they are mutually identical, their characteristics are mutually extinguished. All of these are easily understood.
