第九總釋名題中，初總標章、疏「今初總題」下別釋。於中二，先釋總題中三：初標舉、二「一通顯」下列章名、三「今初諸經」下別釋。於初章中有二：先總舉諸經體式、二別明今經得名。前中，疏「或以人為目、或以法為名」者，總說也。以人為名，約明法之所由；以法為目，乃舉經之本體。

In the ninth section, the general explanation of the title, first the outline is stated collectively; from the Commentary's "Now first, the collective title" downward, it is explained separately. Within this are two parts: first, explaining the collective title, which has three sub-parts: first, raising the topic; second, from "First, explaining generally" downward, listing the chapter names; third, from "Now first, the various sūtras" downward, explaining them separately. In the first chapter there are two parts: first, generally raising the stylistic forms of the various sūtras; second, separately clarifying how the present sūtra attains its name. In the former, the Commentary's "either named after a person or titled after a phenomenon (dharma)" is a general statement. Being named after a person is in terms of clarifying that through which the Dharma arose; being titled after a phenomenon is putting forth the fundamental essence of the sūtra.
