17.10

疏「後二偈」下，但言有云，即《刊定記》主意用此義。言「但結偈中佛德」者，以普賢向讚如來言不能盡，故總結云「剎塵心念可數知，大海中水可飲盡，虛空可量風可繫，無能盡說佛功德。」若將此結歎佛德判為流通，則一部之中無菩薩德。

Regarding the Commentary's "The latter two verses" onwards: it merely says "some say," which means the author of the Kanding Ji intended to use this interpretation. As for the statement "merely concluding the Buddha's virtues within the verses": because Samantabhadra had just praised the Tathāgata as being inexhaustible in speech, he generally concluded: "The mental thoughts of lands and dust motes can be counted and known; the water in the great ocean can be completely drunk; empty space can be measured and the wind can be bound; yet none can exhaustively speak of the Buddha's virtues." If one were to judge this concluding praise of the Buddha's virtues as the transmission, then there would be no bodhisattva virtues within the entire scripture.
