疏「八離世間」等者，當會自成因果，九全合兩會為一因果，十以〈入法界〉當會自成因果。然第八會雖不鉤前，前〈出現品〉已曾鉤此第十因果、不鉤第八會，第八會已曾鉤第九，故並得名鉤鎖因果。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, 'Eighth, Transcending the World' and so forth: That assembly forms its own cause and effect; the ninth fully unites the two assemblies into a single cause and effect; the tenth, with 'Entering the Dharmadhātu', forms its own cause and effect within that assembly. Although the eighth assembly does not hook into the preceding, the preceding 'Chapter on Manifestation' has already hooked into this tenth cause and effect and does not hook into the eighth assembly, and the eighth assembly has already hooked into the ninth; thus they can both be termed interlocking causes and effects.
