17.49

疏「二依教誨」者，謂如是當聽我昔所聞，此即傳法者之教誨也。亦有云：即佛教誨。謂如是，是我佛說，應當諦聽。如有人言：汝當如是讀誦經論。

Regarding the commentary's "Second, relying on instruction": this means, "In this way you should listen to what I previously heard." This is the instruction of the transmitter of the Dharma. Some also say: it is the Buddha's instruction, meaning: "This (rushi) was taught by our Buddha; you should listen attentively," just as someone might say: "You should read and recite sūtras and treatises in this way."
