Regarding the Commentary's "The ten kinds of palaces should be explained here": this is also said in terms of palaces that symbolically express dharmas, just like the wondrous dharma-tree above. This is in the fifty-fourth fascicle. The sūtra states: "Sons of the Buddha! Bodhisattvas have ten kinds of palaces. What are the ten? Namely, the bodhicitta is the bodhisattva's palace, because they never forget it. The ten wholesome paths of action, merit, and wisdom are the bodhisattva's palace, because they teach and transform sentient beings of the desire realm. The four immeasurables are [the bodhisattva's palace], because they teach and transform sentient beings of the form realm. Being born in the Śuddhāvāsa heavens is [the bodhisattva's palace], because all afflictions cannot defile them. Being born in the formless realm is [the bodhisattva's palace], because they cause sentient beings to leave places of difficulty. Being born in defiled worlds is [the bodhisattva's palace], because they cause sentient beings to sever afflictions. Manifesting residence in an inner palace with wife, children, and retinue is [the bodhisattva's palace], because they bring to maturity sentient beings of past common practice. Manifesting residence as a wheel-turning king, world-guardian, Śakra, or Brahmā is [the bodhisattva's palace], because they tame sentient beings of sovereign minds. The playful exercise of supernormal powers in all bodhisattva practices with complete mastery is [the bodhisattva's palace], because they skillfully sport in all dhyānas, liberations, samādhis, and wisdom. The abhiseka prediction of the supreme sovereign king of all-knowledge conferred by all buddhas is [the bodhisattva's palace], because they abide in the adornments of the ten powers and act with mastery in all dharmas. These are the ten. If bodhisattvas abide within them, they attain consecration and supernormal mastery over all worlds." Comment: From the third "is" downward, all have the words "bodhisattva's palace."
