18.2

疏「第四別顯處嚴」中，文亦有二：一通釋前後、二別釋器界。前中，疏「即如來依正」者，別顯處嚴是依，教主難思是正，眾海雲集是眾。而言「輔翼不空」者，菩薩即十八圓滿中輔翼圓滿不空，即眷屬圓滿。謂淨土中無有四趣，龍鬼等眾是佛現有，欲示淨土不空故。

Regarding the Commentary's "Fourth, separately displaying the adornments of the place": within the text there are also two parts: first, a general explanation of what precedes and follows; second, a specific explanation of the vessel world. In the former, as for the Commentary's "These are the Tathāgata's dependent and primary [retributions]": separately displaying the adornments of the place is the dependent; the teacher of the doctrine being inconceivable is the primary; the gathering of the sea of assemblies like clouds is the assembly. As for "Retinue not being empty": bodhisattvas constitute the fulfillment of retinue among the eighteen fulfillments; "not empty" means the fulfillment of followers. That is to say, in the pure land there are no four destinies; assemblies such as nāgas and ghosts are manifestations of the Buddha, intending to show that the pure land is not empty.
