Regarding the commentary’s statement, "All nāgas have four kinds of burning afflictions": sūtras and treatises differ. However, the *Fangfo Jing* states: For instance, the Nāga King Anavatapta is completely free from three kinds of faults: first, hot sand does not fall upon his head; second, he does not engage in desire with a serpent body; third, he has no fear of the Garuḍa bird. That is an analogy for generating bodhicitta and leaving behind the evils of the triple world, yet harmonizing them makes them the same. The commentary states, "Without tiny scales or insects, yet there is the blowing of wind": because of having tiny insects, they are scorched by hot sand. These two are both the wind blowing away the jeweled garments and exposing the body, which manifests the shame of reverting to their original form; therefore there are alternate openings and mergings.
