21.52

疏「聞空謂空則沈於漩澓」者，大分深義所謂空也。以空為空，雖深而沈矣。餘三句亦然。不取空相則無所沈。何以故？空相不可得故。「若復見有空，諸佛所不化」故。空即有故，有等亦然。

Regarding the commentary's statement that "hearing of emptiness and taking it to be emptiness, one sinks into the whirlpool": the great, profound meaning is the so-called emptiness. If one takes emptiness as emptiness, though it is profound, one sinks. The other three lines are also like this. If one does not grasp the mark of emptiness, then there is nowhere to sink. Why? Because the mark of emptiness cannot be apprehended, and because "if one further sees the existence of emptiness, the Buddhas will not transform them." Because emptiness is precisely existence, existence and so forth are also like this.
