22.16

疏「然上十力」下，第三重以諸門料揀。於中二：先會六釋、後顯功能。前中，先總名中但云智力，即持業釋；若云十力，即帶數釋。二「此中宿住」下會別名。宿住名隣近者，智近於念故。言宿住亦依主者，宿住境之隨念故。二「然此十力」下，辯功能，可知。十力略義亦已釋周，更欲廣引恐翳玄理。

Regarding the Commentary's 'However, the above ten powers' and so forth: third, examining and analyzing them again through various approaches. Within this there are two parts: first, matching them with the six types of compound analysis; second, revealing their efficacy. In the former: first, in the general name, if one merely says 'cognitive power,' it is a karmadhāraya compound; if one says 'ten powers,' it is a dvigu compound. Second, from 'here past lives' onward, matching the specific names: past lives is called proximal because cognition is close to mindfulness. The statement that past lives is also a tatpuruṣa compound is because it is the subsequent mindfulness of the cognitive object of past lives. Second, from 'however, these ten powers' onward, distinguishing their efficacy, which can be understood. The brief meaning of the ten powers has also been fully explained; to cite further would risk obscuring the profound principle.
