疏「第五疑之權實」,疏文分三:初徵起、次「有云」下序昔說、後「然此經中」下申正義。非斥權實為不當理,但成緣起有異昔人。言「此事舊爾」者,法界之中法爾有此疑與答故。言「海印頓現」者,疑之與答皆佛現故。由上二義,故疑答皆常。「其猶像模」者,假以喻顯。以模喻疑,以像喻答。像因模有,答假疑成。
Regarding the commentary's section "Fifth, the provisional and the real of doubt": the commentary's text is divided into three parts: first, raising the question; second, narrating earlier explanations from "Some say" onward; and third, presenting the correct meaning from "However, in this sūtra" onward. It does not reject the provisional and the real as unreasonable, but establishes dependent origination differently from previous thinkers. The phrase "This matter has always been thus" means that within the dharmadhātu, such doubt and response exist by nature. The phrase "suddenly appearing in the ocean-seal [samādhi]" means that both doubt and response are manifestations of the Buddha. Due to the two meanings above, both doubt and response are permanent. "Just like an image and a mold": this uses an analogy to clarify. The mold illustrates the doubt, and the image illustrates the response. The image exists because of the mold; the response is accomplished by relying on the doubt.
