疏「言佛地者」下，疏文有四：初出體、二辯類、三釋名、四結示。今初。言「即智德」者，正是出體，非斷德故。言「分位」者，便彰地義。

Regarding the commentary from "Concerning the Buddha-ground" onward: the text of the commentary has four parts: first, identifying the essence; second, distinguishing the categories; third, explaining the name; fourth, concluding and indicating. Now, the first: the words "namely, the virtue of cognition" properly identify the essence, because it is not the virtue of cessation. The words "stages of distinction" display the meaning of "ground."
