23.6

疏「涅槃三十二亦同此說」者，即是北經，是樹提伽長者父之親友讚佛功德，復問佛：「云何名如來？」佛云：「長者！如來世尊，於一切法知見無礙，故名為佛。發言無二，故名如來。斷煩惱故，名阿羅訶。世尊所說終無有二。」釋曰：無二，即無虛妄也。

Regarding the Commentary's statement "the thirty-second fascicle of the Nirvāṇa [Sūtra] also agrees with this explanation": this is the Northern edition, where a close friend of the elder Jyotika's father praised the Buddha's merits and further asked the Buddha: "Why is he called Tathāgata?" The Buddha said: "Elder! The Tathāgata, the World-Honoured One, has unimpeded knowledge and vision regarding all dharmas, therefore he is called Buddha. His utterances are never dual, therefore he is called Tathāgata. Because he has severed the afflictions, he is called Arhat. What the World-Honoured One expounds is ultimately never dual." Exegesis: "Never dual" means free from falsity.
