In the commentary, from 'The sixth has three lines' down, the three lines form one gateway. One gateway is divided into two: first, paired with the previous two lines, it accomplishes the person, as the sūtra says, 'accomplishing the ocean of merit of all buddhas.' Second, it reveals the ocean of great vows of the Tathāgata; hence the commentary says: 'First, accomplishing the merit and great vows of the person of fruition'—these are the two lines. In the commentary, 'Later, upholding the wheel of Dharma' is upholding the Dharma, explaining the sūtra's 'all Dharma wheels of all buddhas are circulated, protected, and upheld without interruption.' The words 'Due to this profound principle, the Dharma-eye is always intact'—the Dharma-eye always being intact without diminution comes from the fourteenth fascicle: because the true principle is serene and clear, awakening also secretly accords with it; since the principle has no deficiency, the Dharma-eye is everlasting.
