疏「初來意者」，疏文有二：一明分來，對前二品以為說緣，生下三品，為正所說。二「總明果相」下，別明品來。此句對下華藏為別，別明本師之所嚴淨，故指此品以為總明諸佛果相。是古德意。下句指前答安立問，二問不同，故二品別答，後品自答世界海問。此是疏意。然答問雖異，總別無違，故雙存二義。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "First, the reason for its appearance": the text of the Commentary has two parts. First, it clarifies the appearance of the section: set against the preceding two chapters, it serves as the occasion for expounding, engendering the following three chapters as what is primarily expounded. Second, from "generally clarifying the characteristics of the fruit" downward, it specifically clarifies the appearance of the chapter. This sentence stands in contrast with the Lotus Treasury [world system] below as specific: because that specifically clarifies what was adorned and purified by our Original Teacher, this chapter is indicated as generally clarifying the characteristics of the fruit of all buddhas. This is the view of the ancient worthies. The subsequent sentence points to previously answering the question on establishment; since the two questions differ, the two chapters answer them separately, the latter chapter answering by itself the question on the ocean of worlds. This is the meaning of the Commentary. However, although the questions answered differ, general and specific do not conflict; hence both meanings are preserved.
