27.13

疏「若依前義則譯者之妙」，能繞所繞其數既多，但云如上則言省略，故云妙耳。雖有二釋，疏意存第二釋，但用十佛剎塵數而為能繞，為順經宗明無盡故、前後體勢類皆然故。餘如疏文，細尋可見。

Regarding the Commentary's statement: "If we rely on the former interpretation, then it is the translator's ingenuity": since the encirclers and the encircled are so numerous, merely saying "as above" abbreviates the wording, hence it is called "ingenuity." Although there are two interpretations, the intent of the Commentary favors the second interpretation, merely using the dust motes of ten Buddha lands as the encirclers, in order to accord with the sūtra's overarching tenet of revealing the inexhaustible, and because the structural conventions before and after are uniformly of this kind. The rest is as in the Commentary text, which can be seen upon careful examination.
