On the commentary’s "That is, if doubting the ten faiths" and below, this reveals the characteristics of manifesting supernormal powers according to doubts. Within this, there are two parts: first, doubting the ten faiths, which is this text and the "Illumination and Awakening Chapter" in the thirteenth fascicle. The statement "pervading the dharmadhātu, etc." uses "etc." to encompass the bodhisattvas gathering like clouds from worlds in the ten directions, each surpassing the dust motes of ten buddha lands. A later chapter of the sūtra states: "All through the Buddha's spiritual power, in each of the ten directions there was one great bodhisattva, each accompanied by as many bodhisattvas as dust motes in ten buddha lands," and so forth. As for "If doubting the ten abodes," this refers to the "Ten Abodes Chapter" of the third assembly. The initial phrase "gathering like clouds, etc." uses this single character "etc." to encompass the practices, pariṇāmanās, grounds, and so forth. That is, for the ten practices, light is emitted from the insteps; for the ten pariṇāmanās, light is emitted from the kneecaps; for the ten grounds, light is emitted from between the eyebrows, and so forth. For the ten practices, it is a thousand lands; for the ten pariṇāmanās, ten thousand, and so forth. This single character "etc." encompasses the events in each division of light emission.
