33.12

疏「初一我空」下，即界分別觀，謂十八界等中求我不得故。言「上半尋思觀」者，斯為方便，即顯下半是如實觀。

Regarding the commentary's "The first clarifies the emptiness of self" and so forth: this is the contemplation of the analysis of dhātus, meaning that within the eighteen dhātus and so forth, seeking a self cannot be found. The phrase "the first half-verse is the contemplation of investigative inquiry (paryeṣaṇā)" indicates this is an upāya, showing that the latter half-verse is the contemplation of reality as it is (yathābhūta).
