34.53

疏「始信終智皆託佛境」者，文殊主二法門：一主信故，善財初見便發信心；二主智故，善財後見便見普賢。始入之信亦信佛境，能度之智亦證佛境耳，故文殊說。

Regarding the Commentary's statement, "Initial faith and final cognition both rely on the realm of the Buddha": Mañjuśrī is the master of two Dharma gates: first, mastering faith, so Sudhana, upon first seeing him, gave rise to the faithful mind; second, mastering cognition, so Sudhana, upon seeing him later, saw Samantabhadra. The faith of initial entry also has faith in the realm of the Buddha, and the cognition that is able to cross over also realizes the realm of the Buddha; therefore Mañjuśrī explains it.
